Year of the Coffee

Year of the Coffee is a project I started in 2017 where I collected the lid of my first cup of coffee for a whole year. That year, I collected 236 coffee lids, and it certainly wasn’t all of the beverages I consumed that year. The project became a story line of my journey on those 236 days displaying rainy days, rushed mornings, and dressy evenings.

The cup lids also told me a story of the amount of waste that I had produced. In April 2018, installed this project at The Family Room in San Francisco, CA for a month. It wasn’t until then that I realized the impact that a single person can have on the planet.

With the intention of telling a story about my life, I also understood my impact. Since then, I have pledged to live a more zero waste lifestyle, bringing reusable tumblers to coffee shops. I hope that people who see this project make changes in their lives to preserve our planet as well.
